If you caught our Homemade Cinnamon Applesauce post on Tuesday, you already know that we thoroughly enjoyed our recent adventure to a Colorado apple orchard. And with our haul of fresh apples, we’ve been whipping up delectable treats all week long! The applesauce, and our apple pops (as posted on Instagram yesterday) were both a huge hit with our little nugget…but these incredibly delicious Baked Apples a La Mode definitely take top prize!
Autumn always makes me think of apples – apple pie, apple crisp, apple tarts, apple cider, apple muffins – the list goes on an on. And these baked apples are really easy to make…they take way less time and effort than a homemade apple pie, but taste just as good!
And you can never go wrong by topping a fresh-out-of-the-oven dessert with a scoop of ice cream. It’s destiny. π The warm dessert causes the ice cream to slowly melt, so that you get a scoop of sweet deliciousness in every single bite!
Baked Apples a La Mode
Ingredients:
- 3-4 Small Apples
- 1/4 Cup Chopped Pecans
- 1 Tbsp. Rolled Oats
- 1 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
- 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. Nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp. Honey
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Cinnamon + Sugar (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375Β° F. Line a cookie sheet with tinfoil and set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine the chopped pecans, rolled oats, brown sugar, olive oil, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir to thoroughly combine. Set aside.
- Cut the tops of the apples (just like you would cut the top of a pumpkin). Use a melon baller (or small spoon) to scoop out the seeds and core. Be careful not to scoop out the bottom of the apples.
- Fill the apples with the pecan mixture, and set them on the tinfoil-lined cookie sheet.
- Bake for approximately 30-40 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the skin starts to puff up.
- Remove from the oven and drizzle the apples with honey.
- While the apples are still warm, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon and sugar.
- Dig in and enjoy!
Baked Apples a La Mode are the perfect fall dessert! They are warm and fruity, nutty and sweet. The little scoop of melting vanilla ice cream on top, ties it altogether to make one incredibly delectable treat!Β We will definitely be making these again. I guess we need to grab even more apples on our next orchard run. π
These would also make a wonderful addition to any autumn dinner party you might have planned! Grab a few more apples, increase the nut mixture ingredient measurements, and pop them all on the baking sheet…easy peasy!
