It was this time three years ago that my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child – happy holidays, indeed! We decided that we wanted to surprise our parents with the special news when we visited for Christmas, so we created a pregnancy announcement Christmas ornament for each of them. On one side it said, “We Are Pregnant!!” and on the other, we included our due date.
I will never forget the exact moments that our mothers pulled their ornaments out of their gift bags – the looks on their faces went from confusion as they pulled out an ornament with a very large, glittery bow…to sheer excitement and tears of joy when they read our happy news! The ornaments were then displayed prominently on their Christmas trees for the rest of our closest relatives to see.
At this point, I was only about 6-weeks along, so we were not ready for the rest of the world to learn about our big news. The select few that already knew, kept the secret safe until we were ready to send out official announcements to the rest of our friends and family – after the first trimester was complete.
I had seen so many different ideas for pregnancy announcements on Pinterest and they were all amazing…it was so hard to decide what we should do, but we ultimately chose to let our furry children help announce the impending addition to our family!
