January always seems like the perfect time of year to celebrate the winter season. But last year, we didn’t see very many snowflakes fall during the first month…so we made due by crafting a variety of indoor snowmen – including a delectable Snowman-on-a-Stick Snack! As luck would have it, the snow has been pretty sparse this year too. But we haven’t let the lack of snowflakes dash our spirits. Instead, we decided to try a new spin on one of last year’s favorites…and created these adorable (and delicious) Snowman Milk Bottles!
It’s hard to beat the combination of milk and donuts…and the mini powdered sugar donuts are the perfect size for little ones. I’m sure that your kiddos would be delighted with a donut and a cold glass of milk…but transform the entire dish into a cute snowman…and I guarantee that your kiddos will jump for joy! I absolutely love creating snacks or desserts that bring a smile to my little nugget’s face. And if you prefer to cut down on sugar…you can easily forgo the snowman skewer, and still end up with one adorable snowman/glass of milk!
We came across this clever treat idea over at Mom Endeavors – thanks Sara! Her post is actually what inspired our Snowman-on-a-Stick Snack to begin with.
Snowman Milk Bottles
Ingredients/Supplies:
- Powdered Sugar Donuts
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (small)
- Candy Corn
- Black Icing Pen
- Twizzlers Pull ‘n’ Peel Licorice
- Chocolate Chips
- Milk
- Wooden Skewers
- Paper Straws
- Glass Milk Bottles
Instructions:
- Start by sliding a wooden skewer through a powdered sugar donut, to create your snowmanβs face.
- Place a piece of candy corn in the center of the donut, for the snowmanβs carrot nose. And slide a small peanut butter cup onto the skewer (until it touches the top of the donut), to create the snowman’s hat.
- Using a black icing pen, carefully add the eyes and mouth. Note: I found it helpful to utilize a toothpick for this particular task, as it was a bit tricky getting the icing to stick to the powdered sugar.
- Now, it’s time to assemble the snowman’s body! Grab a glass milk bottle, a couple of pieces of pull ‘n’ peel licorice, and three chocolate chips.
- Start by pinching two pieces of licorice together, and then press the pinched area firmly onto the neck of the bottle (on the backside). Bring the two open ends of licorice toward the front of the bottle, and gently lace them through one another…to create the snowman’s scarf.
- Grab the black icing pen and apply three small dots down the front of the milk bottle. Place a chocolate chip on top of each icing dot (the icing is the glue that holds the “buttons” onto the bottle).
- Fill the bottle with milk…add a straw…and then pop in your snowman skewer, so that the snowman face sits right on top of the milk bottle.
- Enjoy a delicious treat and a nice, cold glass of milk!
This simple snack/dessert is not just something that your kiddos will enjoy eatingβ¦itβs also something that they can make all by themselves! So, feel free to hand over the reigns, and let your kiddos get creative building their very own Snowman Milk Bottles!
